Amchi №22: A Song Written By An Alien

Well you already think that this seems to be some kind of joke. There are no aliens and even if they do exist, why and how would an alien come in contact with Amchi Kingdom? Fair assumption but pay attention to a little longer with what we have here to share.

Xenai aka Ashwin is a singer, songwriter, music producer, actor and model hailing from Bahrain. The songwriter has a unique perspective towards his music and that’s exactly something that any other singer out should be paying attention to. First off, the way he sees himself is as a true world citizen. He always looks at different cultures and languages and tries to link it to his own music. That’s exactly how his stage name Xenai was formed as it has elements from different languages. But what does this mean? Why does being connected to different cultures matter? It matters because an artist needs to make his music relatable to a larger audience. Xenai’s way of doing it is through cultural connection but you could do it in any other way. Your music cannot be just for you or people who know you, because that would not connect with millions out there.

We are in the year 2021 where the power of connectability is open to anyone. It’s all on you how to connect with people and on what topics. Yes, you should write songs that speak your story but you also have to think how a song make sense to someone who has no idea about you and your experiences. This is something that many know but not many act on.

The next trait that Xenai exhibits is the sheer need to be consistent. He actually advocates the fact of creating a vault. What his logic is that musicians should create a set of 30 songs or so that need to be ready to go. Every month you can then release one song. This means that you would have songs ready every month for over 2 years. Obviously it is very difficult to have 30 songs 100% ready. So, he suggests having the 30 songs ready until 40–60% ready. As the songs are going you can keep completing them.

This process was also used by us in Amchi Kingdom. And we can advocate that this idea is actually helpful. This is because it helps you to act more and think less. When you sit in one go and plan for ideas for a certain amount of time you no longer need to be using your brain. You just need to act like a worker. This is why I call this way of working as the Boss first, Employee second. Meaning you first think like a Boss who researches and makes the decision regarding your content and then blindly follows it as an employee.

Now why did I call Xenai an alien? It’s actually him who calls himself an alien because he does not think of himself as part of any one culture. He connects with many cultures and ideas that’s not something found common in the world.
